AY, MC Galaxy Call Out Sound City for Boycotting Their Songs

AY-dot-com-Mc-GalaxyPopular Nigerian singers, AY.com and MC Galaxy, have sounded foul play against Nigerian media company, Soundcity TV, for allegedly boycotting their songs.

According to AY, he discovered the politics in Nigeria music industry when he dropped his single, “Nwanyi Oma” and it wasn’t featured on the TV station which is widely known for playing music videos.

AY continued that Soundcity boss, Olamide wasn’t paying attention to his advances while someone from MTV Base, demanded #500,000 to feature his song.

He ended up informing them that with the introduction of social media, that all those music channels would soon become obsolete as they will no longer dictate who’s song will make it and those that won’t.

AY captioned his video:

NO UNITY IN OUR INDUSTRY THATS WHY WE CAN’T FIGHT TOGETHER, TV STATIONS ARE MEANT TO BE PAYING ALL NIGERIAN MUSICIANS ROYALTY FOR PLAYING OUR MUSIC VIDEOS ON THEIR STATIONS, BUT IT’S THE OTHER WAY ROUND, MAKING US FEEL LIKE THEY ARE DOING US A FAVOR. MEANWHILE WITHOUT OUR VIDEOS ON THEIR STATIONS THEIR STATIONS ARE DEAD… U ALL WILL FADE AWAY, @tundeednut IS THE FUTURE MTVBASE @instablog9ja IS THE FUTURE SOUNDCITY…. ALL U TV STATIONS AND STAFF WILL FADE AWAY. #SOCIALMEDIAWORLD #MYPPLMUSTGETSENSE”

In reaction to his post, singer MC Galaxy also called out Soundcity, for not featuring his songs, “Fine Girl” and “Ohaa” saying they don’t promote local and upcoming artist, he further called on his fellow Akwa-Ibom people, to boycott the TV station while also directing his social media followers to curse on the station.
