A GoFundMe account has been opened for the cause of funding Atiku Abubakar’s legal fees as he proceeds to contest the result of the February 23rd presidential elections.
The account’s goal is to raise upto $100, 000 for the ex vice president and as of press time about 18 people have donated a total of $847.
A note attached, captioned Supporting Atiku’s Mandate reads;
“On Saturday February 23 2019, we Nigerians went out in our millions to vote for a candidate of our choice but that basic electoral process of voting became an exercise in Govt rigging with soldiers freely deployed against citizens in Abonema, thugs against voters in Lagos, suppressed votes across many parts and inflated figures released from many states, all to achieve a predetermined end of returning President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term.
Independently collated figures show that the opposition candidate, Atiku Abubakar, won the popular votes across 26 states but he was wrongfully denied victory. Ultimately however, ordinary Nigerians lost out as their voting voices were overruled.
Some of us strongly believe that there is enough evidence to discredit the process and upturn the results as announced by INEC. Astonishingly, the polity has been replete with calls by a minority allied to the beneficiaries of the rigging for Atiku Abubakar not to challenge the process in court.
We note however, that Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi are veterans in appealing to the judicial system and this time should not be an exception.
Our Call to Action is therefore simple: to put our money where our votes went and deal a decisive blow against tyranny and rigging by donating freely to support the case against INEC and the ruling APC.
It is no longer a decision to be made unilaterally by Atiku Abubakar and the PDP but a validation of the mandate of Nigerians.”
