Tekashi69 Arrested by Feds for Racketeering

Tekashi69Safe to say it’s been a long time coming that New York born rapper, Tekashi69 would be behind bars after previously evading jail time on previous charges, including child sex offences in 2015.

The rapper was arrested on Sunday night and faces 32 years in jail for racketeering and other offences, according to a prosecuting US attorney.

The sentence would be for life in prison and stems from his involvement with the Nine Trey Bloods.

The Nine Trey Bloods are a New York gang and also known as TreyWay which Tekashi69 has mentioned on Twitter.

But now his involvement could cost him his freedom.

In the history of the US, the one thing that seems to get someone locked up is racketeering, money-laundering or tax evasion,” UK hip hop and culture writer, Jesse Bernard tells Radio 1 Newsbeat.

This could be what takes him to prison.

Racketeering is when people use criminal actions to repeatedly take money from others, and most likely associated with protection rackets.

Other crimes Tekashi69 was involved in includes:

“Being present inside his vehicle outside an NYC office building and recording while his manager and other associates robbed some of his rivals.

“Incident where shots were fired at Barclays Center

“Also, Tekashi was present while someone from his crew fired multiple shots at another vehicle.

“Finally, an incident in July where Tekashi allegedly ordered a hit on a rival, move that left one person shot in the foot.

There’s also a photo of the gun recovered at Tekashi’s Brooklyn home back in September by the feds, an AR-15 style rifle.

He was said to appear before a Judge, Tuesday but that has been shifted to Wednesday as the judge was absent.
